Scenic Art Services was established to provide a comprehensive one stop shop for all of your entertainment, scenery and display requirements. Our team include scenic artists who are experts in traditional theatrical painting techniques and effects and highly experienced and trusted paint suppliers who all have a wealth of knowledge in this exciting industry.
With Scenic Art Services and Imported Theatre Fabrics under the one roof you will find everything you need in one location. Our staff can assist you with all your theatrical needs. We stock a wide range of fabrics including nessel fabric and 400gsm canvas fabric – Natural nessel – fabric is the ideal fabric choice for painted backdrops.
We believe that the quality of the paints used have a huge impact on the finished product and with this in mind we are continually striving to find the ultimate paint for our scenic artists to use on your future projects. Our aim is to provide you with the most stunning results possible.
Have an item in mind for your next event or stage set we can even manufacture that special piece for you. With our scenic artists under the same roof we are able to manufacture your back drop or set piece then our team of experienced scenic artists take over and using traditional painting skills and techniques complete the transformation to create an end product to wow your audience. We can build it and paint it and all you have to do is enjoy seeing your ideas become a reality. Don’t want to use our fabric – that’s fine too, our scenic artists can paint on any item that you provide.
We work with your design or we can even source a skilled designer to create a design for you. We can provide you with fire certification and touch up kits for touring. We will assign a production manager to your project to ensure your schedule is met and there are no budget surprises. Your production manager will be in regular contact so you are always informed about the progress of your project.
Nothing could be simpler….No more coordinating product deliveries to match up with painting schedules, no more liasing with multiple companies to get the job done….you just need one phone number or one email address and we can take the stress away from your project. Give us a call and see how we can assist you with your project. It doesn’t need to be a big job, we are here for you for any size project, we can do as much or as little as you require.

At Scenic Art Services, we are passionate about our craft and committed to ensuring its future within the entertainment industry at all costs. Our workshop model is based on a traditional master-apprentice style of on-the-job training backed up by commitment to the art world in general …this allows for transition of skills, “old and new” and for appropriate succession planning.
Scenic Art Services has an amazing range of clients who we feel support us unconditionally and in return we ensure that all work carried out by us is done to a world class standard, this is across the board, either small or large. We would like to think that everyone walks away from us totally satisfied with our finished products. You only have to ask Opera Australia, John Frost, The National Ballet School, Andrew Kay or the Australian Ballet Company about Scenic Art Services and we know that the response will be that of total satisfaction.
Our scenic artists and assistants are completely dedicated to their roles and they love a challenge. Scenic Art Services have just experienced massive success working with our design team in New York and Australia on the most recent production of My Fair Lady……an amazing challenge given the history of this piece. Thank you to the artists and back stage team at Scenic Art Services.
Scenic Art Services are extremely proud of our contribution to My Fair Lady.
We understand the growing needs of the entertainment market place. As we grow in stature we have also expanded our fields far and wide.
Imported Theatre Fabrics also offers a series of printing options for the industry to access. We work with large format printing projects, creating images up to 12 metres deep (drop) by 60 metres wide, no joins, one continual piece of artwork….these are used primarily as movie cycs, however we did create 45 metre wide cloths for The Australian Ballets production of Cinderella, choreographed by Alexie Ratmansky…..we did end up printing most of the set, dressing, props and several costume pieces. We are able to enhance any printed image with the use of a technique developed by Scenic Art Services.
We have just finished a series of amazing print works for Groovin the Moo (touring concert), new Skoda release (Hunter Valley), Little Shop of Horrors and many more.
Watch this space for more in the world of print….
